Channyn Lynne Parker—a visionary leader, advocate, and trailblazer committed to fostering equity and empowerment for marginalized communities. As the CEO of Brave Space Alliance, the pioneering Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago's South Side, Channyn has been at the forefront of revolutionizing community support, offering vital resources, and creating a lifeline for those often left unheard.

Channyn's journey is one of groundbreaking achievements and steadfast commitment. She made history as the first openly transgender woman at the Cook County Department of Corrections, where she tirelessly advocated for the rights of those in protective custody. Her career has also included impactful roles at The Broadway Youth Center and Chicago House Social Service Agency. At Howard Brown Health, Channyn led efforts to expand clinic outreach and extend vaccination access during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her tenure on the Executive Leadership team marked a significant milestone in advancing healthcare equity.

Beyond her role at Brave Space Alliance, Channyn's leadership extends across multiple platforms. She serves on the Illinois Commission on Poverty Elimination and Economic Security, the Commission on Hate Crimes and Discrimination, and the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood, advocating tirelessly for reproductive rights, healthcare access, and bodily autonomy.

Her work has garnered numerous accolades, including the inaugural Trans100 award, the Humanitarian Freedom Award from Equality Illinois, commendations from Mayor Lori Lightfoot, acknowledgment from Mayor Brandon Johnson, and induction into the LGBTQ Chicago Hall of Fame. She has also been recognized by Crain's Business Chicago and the Out 100 to name a few.

Channyn brings an authentic, compelling voice that bridges the gap between strategic leadership and lived experience. She speaks with clarity, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to progress, ensuring that audiences leave not just informed but inspired to take action.

Her thought leadership extends to topics such as:

  • Transformative Leadership in Nonprofits – Building resilient organizations that foster lasting change.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) – Creating inclusive spaces that uplift and empower marginalized voices.
  • Personal Resilience and Wellness – Balancing leadership with self-care and holistic well-being.
  • Community Advocacy and Policy Change – Driving systemic change through grassroots organizing and strategic partnerships.

Channyn believes, "Onward is never a final destination... it's a series of checkpoints as you journey toward your destination." This guiding principle underscores her unwavering dedication to pushing boundaries, inspiring change, and forging paths for others to follow.
