Welcome to the ACCCCS!The Association for the Coordination of Counseling Center Clinical Services (ACCCCS) was formed in November, 1996, when a group of clinical services coordinators and clinical services directors representing colleges and universities from around the country met at The Ohio State University to discuss common interests and concerns. Membership in the association is open to any staff member in a 2-year or 4-year college or university counseling center who is directly responsible for coordinating the clinical service aspect of the agency’s services, including the day-to-day coordination and implementation of those clinical services. Although most centers have one person in this role, some centers have two persons who share the responsibility of overseeing clinical services; each is eligible for membership and each pays the membership fee. Our 200+ members hold a variety of titles including associate director, assistant director, clinical coordinator, staff clinician, and a few are directors of small centers. Our aim is to be welcoming and inclusive to all persons in college and university counseling centers with responsibility for the coordination of clinical services. A message from our president...
Dear Colleagues and Friends, On behalf of the Association of Coordinators of Counseling Center Clinical Services (ACCCCS), it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all current and prospective members. Our association brings together university and college clinical directors and clinical coordinators from U.S. and international institutions. As a community, we strive to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the clinical mental health services provided to students across our campuses. In a continually changing landscape of higher education, mental health, and socio-political factors, the role of counseling center clinical services is more critical than ever. Our association serves as a hub for sharing best practices, helping each other attune practices to be culturally responsive to the needs of our student and staff populations, and providing support to each other during challenging times. We are committed to creating a collaborative environment where members can connect, share their experiences, and learn from one another to improve our practices. Whether through our annual conferences, e-list, or virtual consultation and support spaces throughout the year, we provide numerous opportunities for professional growth and networking. This upcoming year, we are excited to host our annual conference in Chicago on May 6-9, where we will come together to engage in meaningful presentations, discussions, and connections. As my term begins, I invite all higher education clinical directors and coordinators to join our ACCCCS family. If you are already a member, I encourage you to use our association’s resources throughout the year to seek consultation, information about common practices, connection to other members, and support for the challenges we all face in our positions. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions and recommendations throughout the year. I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working with you all! Warm regards, Vivian Yamada, Psy.D. (she/her) Clinical Director/Associate Director, University of California Irvine
